Every journey begins with a first step. Our first step began in 1987 when a group of minority businesses joined together to strengthen minority businesses in Sampson County. We consisted of African Americans, American Indians, and Asia Americans. We held workshops and seminars to help promote and improve our businesses and support one another. We grew to over thirty strong.
In 1989 we merged with then, The Clinton Chamber of Commerce, which later became the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce. The Multi-Cultural Committee started the Annual Martin Luther King, Jr Luncheon during this time. This event has been our trademark over the last twenty-three years, which has grown over the years as a day of remembrance of Dr. King and his journey.
But now our journey continues; we are now the Multicultural Committee of Sampson County, INC. A non-profit that has become independent of the Chamber of Commerce to open other doors. We will continue to host the annual MLK, Jr luncheon but spread our wings in other endeavors as a networking site for multicultural businesses and organizations. To host workshops and offer scholarships in the Sampson County area.
Join us in our new journey, and let's make Sampson County the best for all!
